Agbodza Mocks Nhyiaeso MP After Ken Agyapong’s NPP Primary Loss

Kwame Governs Agbodza, the Minister of Roads and Highways, has publicly mocked Dr Stephen Amoah, the Member of Parliament for Nhyiaeso, following the surprising defeat of former flagbearer aspirant Kennedy Agyapong in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primaries. Agyapong’s loss in the internal NPP contest alarmed some party members in the Ashanti Region, especially since he was seen as a strong contender who had support in several constituencies.
Amoah, who was part of Agyapong’s campaign efforts in Nhyiaeso Constituency, had expressed surprise that the veteran politician did not secure more votes in the area, admitting that he was taken aback by the outcome and emphasizing the peaceful conduct of the party’s internal election.
In response to these developments, Agbodza took a swipe at Amoah by highlighting the unexpected result, suggesting that the MP’s reaction could be seen as humorous given the scale of support Agyapong was anticipated to get locally. Agbodza’s comments reflect the broader political pushback and satire that often follows high-profile election outcomes within major parties.
Kennedy Agyapong’s loss in Nhyiaeso was one of the notable surprises of the NPP primaries, with supporters and observers discussing the wider implications for internal party dynamics as the party gears up for the 2028 general elections. Amoah had underscored the importance of peace and unity following the defeat, saying the focus should be on party cohesion rather than analysis of the results immediately.
