UK-Based Ghanaian Rapper Arrested In France After Escaping Police Custody Twice

A UK-based Ghanaian rapper who escaped police custody twice within a week has been arrested in France after spending several days on the run. The suspect, Daniel Boakye, a 21-year-old drill rapper known in music circles as Dsavv, was apprehended by French authorities in the town of La Bouëxière in Brittany following a joint international operation.

Boakye had been serving a prison sentence in the United Kingdom after being convicted for a series of knifepoint robberies. He was reportedly jailed in July 2023 and was awaiting deportation to Ghana after completing his sentence.

His escape began when he was taken to a hospital for medical treatment while under police supervision. During the visit, he managed to flee from custody. Authorities later rearrested him, but he escaped again just days later from another hospital in Lewisham in south-east London, triggering a major manhunt by the Metropolitan Police.

While on the run, the rapper reportedly mocked police on social media by posting videos and messages referencing his escape. The posts attracted widespread attention online and further intensified efforts by law enforcement agencies to track him down.

Investigators later discovered that Boakye had managed to leave the United Kingdom and travel to France, reportedly hiding in a lorry during his escape. After days of coordinated investigations involving British and French authorities, he was eventually located and arrested.

Following his arrest, arrangements are being made to return him to the United Kingdom to continue serving his prison sentence. Authorities are also investigating whether other individuals assisted him in escaping custody and fleeing the country.

The incident has raised concerns about security procedures surrounding prisoners receiving medical treatment outside correctional facilities. Officials are expected to review the circumstances that allowed the inmate to escape twice within such a short period.

Despite his brief period on the run, the arrest has brought the international manhunt to an end, with law enforcement agencies confirming that Boakye will soon be returned to British custody.
