Two Siblings Drown In Uncovered Manhole At Somanya

A heartbreaking incident has left residents of Somanya in shock after two young siblings were found dead in an uncovered manhole within their family compound.
The tragic event occurred in a residential area in the Yilo Krobo Municipality of the Eastern Region. According to reports, the children had returned home from school earlier in the day but were later declared missing when family members could not locate them. A frantic search was launched within the compound and surrounding areas.
Hours later, the lifeless bodies of the two children were discovered inside a deep manhole situated at the back of the house. The manhole was reportedly not properly covered, raising concerns about safety within the home and the broader community.
Residents quickly alerted authorities, and personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service responded to the distress call. Fire officers worked to pump water out of the manhole to enable retrieval efforts. The bodies were subsequently removed and handed over to the police for further action.
The remains have since been deposited at a local hospital morgue pending autopsy and investigations. Police have begun inquiries to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
