Fifi Kwetey Says A Cabinet Reshuffle Is Coming

The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Hon. Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey, has indicated that President John Dramani Mahama is preparing to carry out a ministerial reshuffle in his government. Mr. Kwetey made the comment during an interview on national television, though he did not specify when the changes would take place or which ministers might be affected.

Kwetey explained that while there will be a reshuffle of ministers, the exact timing remains uncertain and will depend on the president’s assessment of the government’s needs. He reiterated that the president reserves the right to reorganise his cabinet at the appropriate moment to ensure effective governance and performance.

The suggestion of a reshuffle comes amid ongoing calls from some political commentators and party members for more efficient leadership in key ministries. Although Kwetey did not outline specific goals for the expected changes, his remarks echoed earlier comments he has made in the past that President Mahama should not hesitate to adjust his team when necessary.

Political analysts say a reshuffle could aim to strengthen policy implementation or address public concerns about government operations, but such moves are typically handled quietly until an official announcement is made. Ghana’s constitution gives the president broad authority to appoint or replace ministers as he deems fit.

The NDC leadership’s public mention of a future reshuffle highlights internal focus on governance strategy as the party continues its term in office.
