Security Officer’s Accusation Sparked Mob Attack On Liberian Man, Girlfriend Says

A 26 year old Liberian national, Austin Tengeeh, has died following a mob attack in the Lashibi area of the Greater Accra Region. According to his girlfriend, the tragic incident was triggered by an accusation made by a security officer, who allegedly labeled him a thief.

She explained that the claim quickly drew the attention of bystanders, who began chasing him. The situation escalated within minutes as more people joined in, eventually leading to a violent assault. Witnesses say the crowd acted on suspicion rather than confirmed evidence, resulting in severe injuries.

Emergency responders later found Austin unconscious with serious wounds. He was rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The Sakumono District Police Command has since arrested three individuals in connection with the incident. Authorities say investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend other persons believed to have participated in the attack. The body of the deceased has been deposited at the hospital pending further investigations and necessary processes.

The incident has renewed concerns about mob justice and the dangers of acting on unverified accusations. Law enforcement officials are urging the public to allow due process to take its course and to report suspected crimes to the police instead of resorting to violence.
