Piesie Esther Says She Is Not Ready To Work With Secular Artists

Award-winning Ghanaian gospel singer Piesie Esther has explained why she is currently hesitant to collaborate with secular musicians despite ongoing debates about crossover projects in the music industry.
Speaking on Prime Time with George Quaye on Joy Prime, Piesie Esther addressed questions about whether she would consider recording songs with artists from the secular music scene. She said she has not yet made up her mind on the idea of such collaborations and is currently not ready to do so.
The gospel artist made it clear that her reluctance is not because she has a negative view of secular musicians. She told the show that she does not believe there is anything inherently wrong with working with secular artistes. Her main concern, she explained, is how her core gospel audience might react.
According to Piesie Esther, some members of the gospel community might criticise her or “bash” her if she worked with non-gospel artists because they might not fully understand her intentions. She said this possible backlash makes her cautious about moving forward with collaborations right now.
While she remains open in principle to crossing over in future, Piesie Esther said the timing and context must be right. She expressed hope that, over time, perspectives in the gospel music scene could shift to become more accepting of partnerships with secular musicians.
For now, the gospel singer continues to focus on her core ministry and work within the Christian music space while prayerfully considering what lies ahead.
