Papa Shee Shifts Focus To Akosua Serwaa After Court Delays Lumba Memorial Case

Gospel musician and evangelist Papa Shee has announced a change in plans following the latest court developments surrounding the proposed celebration of life for late highlife legend Daddy Lumba.
The decision comes after the Accra High Court adjourned an injunction case tied to the planned memorial event. The case, which was brought before the court to halt the ceremony, has now been postponed to April 23, 2026, leaving uncertainty over whether the event will proceed as scheduled.
Speaking after the court session, Papa Shee revealed that despite the legal setback, plans for a gathering will still go ahead. However, instead of focusing on the late musician, the event will now celebrate Akosua Serwaa, the first wife of Daddy Lumba.
According to him, the change is a response to the ongoing legal challenges, which have made it difficult to move forward with the original memorial plans. His statement, “We will celebrate Akosua Serwaa,” has since sparked widespread reactions among fans and the general public.
The adjournment follows a legal dispute involving family members over the organisation of the memorial event. Papa Shee and Akosua Serwaa had been part of efforts to organise a second celebration of life ceremony for the late music icon, which was expected to take place later in March 2026.
The situation has reignited conversations around the controversies that have surrounded events in honour of Daddy Lumba since his passing. Earlier disagreements among family members and stakeholders had already created tension during his funeral arrangements, and the current court proceedings appear to have extended those disputes.
Despite the uncertainty, supporters of Akosua Serwaa have continued to show strong backing, with many expressing mixed reactions online about the shift in focus and the ongoing legal battle.
As the case awaits its next hearing, the future of the planned memorial remains unclear. For now, Papa Shee and his supporters appear determined to proceed with an alternative form of celebration, placing Akosua Serwaa at the centre of the event.
