NPP Member Of Parliament Urges Probe Into Russian National At Centre Of Viral Scandal

A New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament has called for a formal investigation into a Russian national whose alleged activities have recently dominated social media and sparked public concern across Ghana. The MP said authorities should urgently determine the full circumstances behind the viral videos and reports linked to the foreign individual, emphasising the need for accountability and protection of citizens.

The controversy grew after video clips circulated online showing a foreign man interacting with several Ghanaian women under circumstances that many social media users described as concerning and exploitative. The footage quickly drew widespread attention, with debates over whether the interactions were consensual and whether any laws may have been broken in the process.

In response to the public reactions, the NPP MP urged the Ghana Police Service and other relevant security agencies to launch a thorough inquiry into the Russian national’s actions, citing the importance of protecting the dignity and safety of Ghanaian women and ensuring that foreigners on Ghanaian soil are subject to local laws. The call for investigation reflects rising pressure from members of Parliament and civil society who want clarity and, if necessary, legal action.

The MP also noted that viral content tied to foreigners should not be dismissed simply as online noise, especially when it involves allegations of exploitation, potential privacy violations, or other misconduct. He urged that the probe be transparent and that outcomes should be shared with the public to reassure citizens that the matter is being taken seriously.

So far, authorities have not released a public statement confirming an official investigation specifically targeting the individual in question. However, Ghana’s law enforcement agencies have in the past responded to online trends and public complaints when they involve potential criminal offences, including questions of consent, privacy violations, and exploitation.

The call from the NPP MP adds to growing public discourse about the responsibilities of online content creators and the powers of law enforcement when foreign nationals are involved in controversial activities shared on social media. Many Ghanaians have also taken to social platforms to express support for investigations and to demand protection for individuals whose images appear in viral clips without clear evidence that they agreed to public distribution
