NPP Figures Accused Of Funding Mahama’s 2024 Campaign, Alhaji Ishaq Claims

Alhaji Ishaq Kyei Brobbey, who is aspiring to be the Ashanti Regional Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has publicly alleged that some senior persons within the NPP financially supported the 2024 presidential campaign of John Dramani Mahama, the candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
In his comments, Alhaji Ishaq suggested that certain influential leaders associated with the NPP provided financial assistance to Mahama’s campaign even as the party was contesting the same election. He described the situation as surprising, calling on party members to reflect on why prominent NPP figures would financially back a rival political candidate in a crucial national election.
The 2024 general elections in Ghana were held on December 7, 2024, when former President Mahama won the presidency and the NDC secured a majority in Parliament. This result ended the NPP’s eight years in power and returned Mahama to office.
Alhaji Ishaq’s comments have sparked reactions among political observers and supporters of both major parties, with some calling for clarity and evidence to support his claims, while others dismiss the allegations as politically motivated. The New Patriotic Party has not issued an official statement responding to the accusations at the time of this report.
