Mahama Names New Members Of Accra Reset Presidential Council

President John Dramani Mahama has announced a new lineup of leaders for the Presidential Council of the Accra Reset Initiative while attending the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

The newly named council includes influential global figures such as President Félix Tshisekedi of the Democratic Republic of Congo, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi of Egypt, President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa, President William Ruto of Kenya, Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva of Brazil, President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria, Prime Minister Mia Mottley of Barbados, and President Prabowo Subianto of Indonesia.

In addition, Mahama announced a Circle of Guardians for the initiative made up of respected former global leaders, including Olusegun Obasanjo of Nigeria, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf of Liberia, Joyce Banda of Malawi, John Kufuor of Ghana, Jakaya Kikwete of Tanzania, and Ameenah Gurib-Fakim of Mauritius. Other guardian members include former prime ministers and heads of government from around the world.

The Accra Reset is a major international effort championed by Ghana to reshape global governance and development cooperation, focusing on reducing aid dependency and promoting sovereignty, shared value, and stronger partnerships across sectors starting with health.

President Mahama highlighted that the initiative is about building new frameworks for cooperation where all nations co-design and shape investments and programmes that reflect their priorities.
