How Three Nigerian Stowaways Were Arrested After a Ship Landed in Ghana

Three Nigerian men were arrested in Ghana after they were discovered hiding on a ship that had docked in the country. The trio had sneaked onto the vessel while it was at Apapa Port in Lagos, Nigeria, planning to travel without permission and ultimately reach another destination.
Security officials said the men boarded the ship without being detected as it prepared to depart from Nigeria. After the ship arrived in Ghana, officers found the three hiding inside and took them into custody.
The suspects were identified as Isaac Daniel (32), Stephen Nuta (28) and Kelvin Popoola (26). They were placed under arrest and transferred to police custody so investigations could continue.
Authorities are working to determine how the men managed to access the ship undetected and are reviewing security procedures at ports. The case highlights ongoing challenges related to stowaways and illegal travel at major maritime transport points.
Officials have also noted the importance of stronger monitoring at ports to prevent stowaways from boarding vessels and risking their lives at sea.
