Government Pledges To Complete All Stalled Housing Projects Across Ghana

The Deputy Chief of Staff at the Office of the President, Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, has assured Ghanaians that government remains committed to completing all abandoned housing projects across the country. She emphasised that unfinished housing developments inherited from previous administrations will be revived and completed to help address Ghana’s growing accommodation challenges.

Speaking on the matter, Bampoe Addo explained that government recognises the importance of ensuring that public investments are not wasted. According to her, projects that have already consumed taxpayers’ money must be completed so that citizens can benefit from them rather than allowing them to deteriorate over time.

She noted that several housing projects across the country were started but left incomplete due to financial constraints and other implementation challenges. The current administration, she said, is determined to continue work on such projects to make them useful to the public. Completing these developments is expected to contribute to reducing Ghana’s housing deficit while also improving living conditions for many families.

According to her, some of the stalled housing developments are already at advanced stages of construction. Government is therefore focusing on mobilising the resources required to complete them within a reasonable timeframe so that the facilities can be occupied by the intended beneficiaries.

The Deputy Chief of Staff also stressed that the completion of abandoned projects forms part of a broader strategy to promote accountability in the management of public resources. She explained that when projects remain unfinished for years, it represents a waste of state funds and undermines national development goals.

Authorities believe that reviving these housing projects will not only provide accommodation for citizens but also create jobs within the construction sector and stimulate economic activity in various regions of the country.

The government therefore continues to engage relevant agencies and stakeholders to ensure that stalled housing developments are completed and put to productive use.
