Education Minister And Deputy Minister Recovering At 37 Military Hospital After Road Accident

Two senior government officials are receiving treatment and recovering at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra after being involved in a serious road accident on the Bolgatanga-Tumu Road in the Upper West Region.

The **Minister of Education, Hon Haruna Iddrisu, and the Deputy Minister of Communications and Digital Technology, Hon Mohammed Adams Sukparu, sustained injuries when the vehicle convoy they were travelling in collided with another motorist on Thursday, February 12, 2026.

According to reports, the accident occurred between Banu and Kunchokor on the Tumu-Navrongo Highway while the officials were heading to the Upper West Region for official duties, including attending anniversary celebrations at the Tumu College of Education.

Emergency responders and medical teams quickly attended to the injured after the crash. Both ministers were stabilised and subsequently airlifted first to Wa before being transferred to 37 Military Hospital in Accra for specialised care.

Hospital sources and government offices confirmed that both Iddrisu and Sukparu are in stable condition and responding to treatment. Their driver, who also suffered injuries in the accident, is reportedly improving under medical supervision.

Officials from the Ministry of Education expressed gratitude for the swift response of emergency services and the support of medical staff at the hospital. They noted that updates on the ministers’ conditions will be released as necessary.
