Dr Nana Ayew Afriyie, the Ashanti Regional campaign coordinator for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and Member of Parliament for Effiduase-Asokore Constituency, says the massive backing from delegates in the Ashanti Region reflects their belief in Dr Bawumia’s abilities and leadership.
Speaking after the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primary results were released, Dr Ayew Afriye highlighted that the Ashanti Region delivered overwhelming support for Dr Bawumia, signalling that delegates voted based on competence and merit.
According to provisional figures from the Ashanti Region, Dr Bawumia secured a strong lead with about 59.2 per cent of votes in the region. Dr Ayew Afriye said this outcome shows that delegates chose the candidate they trusted to lead the party into future elections.
He added that the region’s support was not influenced by religious or ethnic considerations, but by confidence in Dr Bawumia’s capacity to deliver results for the party and the nation. Dr Ayew Afriye said the delegates demonstrated political maturity and unity by rallying behind the candidate they believed had the best chance of success.
