Afenyo-Markin stresses strong bond with Kennedy Agyapong after NPP primaries criticism

The Minority Leader of Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has addressed recent criticism following the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primaries by reaffirming his close relationship with veteran politician Kennedy Agyapong. After the party’s internal race, where tensions ran high among supporters, Afenyo-Markin said his personal friendship and mutual understanding with Agyapong remain firm amid differing political views.

According to Afenyo-Markin, he and Agyapong “share a code,” which signifies a deep bond built on respect, trust, and a shared commitment to the party’s unity and success. He stressed that competition within the party should not damage personal relationships or harm unity as the NPP prepares for future national elections.

Afenyo-Markin also highlighted that despite criticisms from some party members about the primaries’ results, his relationship with Agyapong has not been affected. He emphasised that internal disagreements are a normal part of politics and that both men remain committed to working together for the benefit of their party.

The comments come in the wake of intense discussion among NPP supporters about the outcome of the presidential primaries, in which veteran politicians competed for leadership roles within the party. Afenyo-Markin’s message reinforced the importance of unity, discipline, and cooperation within the NPP going forward.
