11 Foreign Nationals To Be Tried After Fake Dollar Printing Ring Busted In Accra

Eleven foreign nationals are set to face trial in Ghana after they were arrested for allegedly operating a large-scale counterfeit US dollar printing syndicate in the Tuba area of Accra. The suspects were apprehended during an intelligence-led operation by the Ghana Immigration Service and other security units, which uncovered equipment and materials used in the production of fake currency.

Authorities say the group was found at a residential location where counterfeit dollar notes, laptop computers, printers and other tools believed to be used in the illegal operation were seized. Investigators have charged the suspects with running an organised counterfeiting scheme that posed a threat to the country’s financial system and public safety.

Court proceedings have now begun, with prosecutors indicating they will pursue charges linked to counterfeiting and other related offences. The case highlights ongoing efforts by Ghanaian law enforcement to crack down on financial crime and protect the integrity of currency circulation in the country.

Officials involved in the investigation have urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity that could signal similar illegal enterprises, stressing the importance of community cooperation in combating fraud and economic crime.
